History
Although the Order of St. Michael the Archangel is a very ancient Order of Chivalry, the Order of Saint Michael was formerly established here in California as an official Fraternal Benevolent Non-Profit organization in the year 2000.
The Order of Saint Michael ® formally known as the Honorable Order of Knights of Saint Michael the Archangel ~ Dagger Sub Rosa, Order of Merit ® is a charitable interdenominational Christian law-enforcement, public safety, and common defense Knighthood that is associated with the international Knighthood known as the Most Honorable Order of Christian Knights of the Rose ®. The Order of Saint Michael is a benevolent fraternal Order that is dedicated to preserving and promoting the tenets of chivalry. These universal tenets are in alignment with the law enforcement and military code of ethics. The organization provides mutual support and aid for law-enforcement, public safety, common defense, family members of the Order of Saint Michael and to those in need.
Non- Profit
The Order of St. Michael is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization within the umbrella of The Most Honorable Order of Christian Knights of the Rose ® and is funded through membership dues, fund raisers and anonymous donations by individuals and businesses that support the articles of the Order of Saint Michael. The Order of Saint Michael is run and operated by a dedicated group of volunteers who are currently/formerly first responders (police, fire, paramedics, nurses, doctors and military).
Scholarships and Causes
From the acquired funds of the organization the Order of Saint Michael provides scholarships to qualified students who attend police academies, fire academies, and to public safety organizations for both education and in times of need. The Order has provided these scholarships for over 15 years now.
In addition to the scholarships, the Order of Saint Michael also provides public safety equipment and support for purchases of public safety and rescue equipment. The Order of Saint Michael also has worked on local public safety efforts through a sister organization called “Heroes of Monterey County” to further provide equipment needs such as the purchase of K-9’s and K-9 equipment.
The Order also has a youth program that encourages community service, education, diversity, and commitment to values. Committed youth who meet the criteria are eligible for scholarships for continuing education.
National Recognition Program
The Order of Saint Michael recognition program was developed to recognize individuals in public safety and common defense who meet the criteria to receive an award for merit, valor, or life-saving/rescue. The organization also recognizes citizens who have committed acts of valor or lifesaving that meet the criteria for the award. Businesses who meet the criteria for outstanding support to public safety and common defense are recognized with the Order of Saint Michael’s esteemed “Archangel Award.” The order of Saint Michael participates in the distribution of many of these awards in conjunction with the Monterey County Peace Officers Association, and the California State Juvenile Officers Association.
Over the past few years the Order of Saint Michael along with its sister Order, the Knights of the Rose, has presented more than a dozen posthumous Medal of Valor Awards/plaques to the families of Officers killed in the line of duty and military members lost in the line of duty.
Local Support
For the past 15 years, the Order of Saint Michael and the Knights of the Rose have and continues to contribute on a monthly basis fresh local produce to the Carmelite Nuns (Carmel, California) in return for their prayers and support. Both Orders have assisted in California, and nationwide, in developing safety and security protocols for Houses of Worship.
